Seminar by Thor Kerr given at the University of Otago's Department of Media, Film and Communication in Dunedin, New Zealand. The seminar presented findings of the Setting up the tent embassy report by Thor Kerr and Shaphan Cox examining how a problem of Aboriginal ‘protestors’ requiring policing was constructed by popular news media in Perth in early 2012. This construction worked to legitimise police raids against the Nyoongar Tent Embassy, which had assembled peacefully to affirm native title at the sacred site of Matagarup. The report is to be published by Ctrl-Z in the next few weeks.
